Carrier PhilosophyAt AFN®, we believe in building long lasting relationships with our carriers that are beyond a singular transaction. This collaborative approach has enabled us to create a network that is second to none in the industry. As a department, Carrier Procurement is accessible at all levels. As a carrier for AFN®, you will work directly with an assigned Procurement Representative, who will develop a strategy with you to keep your trucks moving to the locations that suit you best. You will have direct access to a Procurement Manager and the Department Vice President to help you further. Oftentimes, a combination of these professionals will work directly with you to develop an overall strategy that fits your needs. Accessibility is the key and it is critical to making this process work. As a carrier for AFN®, you will realize better efficiencies in fleet management by collaborating with a Procurement Representative in planning ahead for your needs. We have the ability to identify future loading opportunities in a 24-72 hour window, which will allow you to plan your drivers accordingly. Case Study - Internal MarketingIn November of 2009, one of our Procurement Representatives had a conversation with one of his carriers where each was trying to identify areas for future growth and collaboration. During that conversation, it became evident that the carrier had daily capacity in Redlands, California and needed to get back to San Antonio, Texas. The Procurement Representative immediately approached the Customer Sales Department with this information. After a few days, he was approached by a Customer Sales Representative about an opportunity with an existing customer who was looking to expand with AFN®. We approached both the customer and the carrier and discussed collaborating in terms of dedicating this lane to AFN® and the carrier. It was a great match, and to this day the carrier is moving two loads a day from Redlands, California to San Antonio, Texas. These types of conversations are happening daily within the walls of AFN®.
